Bill Law, Jr., MD, FACE/FACP

Bill Law, Jr., MD, FACE/FACP received his medical degree from The University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences in Memphis, and completed his Internal Medicine training there as well.  He then pursued a three year Fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Mayo Clinic and Mayo Foundation in Rochester, Minnesota.  He has been in the private practice of consultative Endocrinology in Knoxville, Tennessee since 1983, and is the senior partner of a six-physician Endocrinology group.  He is Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine at Knoxville and serves as Chief of the Section of Endocrinology at that institution.

Dr. Law is the principle author of more than ten original research articles published in a number of leading medical journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, Journal of Clinical Investigation, etc.  He is a charter member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and a charter Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology.  In addition to membership in the American Medical Association, ACP/ASIM, and Endocrine Society, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) since 1995, and was recently honored by election to the Executive Committee of AACE, on which he serves as President. 

Dr. Law and his wife of twenty-seven years, Vickie, have three children ages 16-22.  He is an Eagle Scout and has served for many years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Great Smoky Mountain Council, Boy Scouts of America.  His extracurricular interests include tennis, hunting, fishing, and canoeing.

Casey J. Page, M.D., FACE

Dr. Page is a small-town boy, hailing from the "Show Me" state of Missouri.  He conducted his undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis, graduating with a BA in Biology and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa during his tenure there.  He matriculated at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and from there went on to complete a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Missouri-Columbia Health Sciences Center.  During his three years in that program, he was awarded the "Outstanding Resident" award as well as the "Outstanding Database" award.  He then completed an Endocrinology and Metabolism Fellowship at Penn State/Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA.

     Having completed his Endocrinology Fellowship, The beautiful Volunteer State beckoned, and Dr. Page joined this practice in 1990.  He is a member of the American Medical Association and American Diabetes Association, and is a Charter Member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), and a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology.  He is also the Secretary/Treasurer and local State Representative for the Tennessee Chapter of AACE.  His interests in Endocrinology are diverse, but include a strong commitment to diabetes, endocrine tumors, and androgenic disorders.  He also lectures locally and nationally, and is Clinical Consultant for several pharmaceutical companies.

     Dr. Page enjoys a number of recreational pursuits, especially tennis, racquetball, aerobics, water sports, and has a great love and interest in music.  He is a member of the Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir of the First United Methodist Church where he has been a member since coming to Knoxville.  Dr. Page thrives in East Tennessee with its friendly residents and natural beauty.

Thomas W. Doty, III, M.D.

Dr. Doty was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. He attended Brentwood Academy, was an Eagle Scout, and attended the World Jamboree in Norway.  He graduated from the University of the South at Sewanee, Tennessee, and the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences in Memphis.  Internship, Residency, and Chief Residency in Internal Medicine were completed in Charleston, South Carolina.  He stayed in Charleston for a three year Endocrinology Fellowship.  Research interests there focused on the insulin receptor.

Dr. Doty is a member of the American Medical Association, American Diabetes Association, Endocrine Society, and American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.  He is on the Active Staff of Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center and University Medical Center.

     Dr. Doty is married and has three children, Walt, Beth, and John.  The family has restored an older home in Knoxville, in which they now live.  The Dotys enjoy outdoor sports, camping, hiking, cooking, and gardening, and are active in church work.  

 

Daniel K. McCammon, M.D.

Dr. McCammon graduated from UT Knoxville and then attended UT Medical School in Memphis, followed by a 3-year residency in Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, and three additional years of training in Endocrinology and Metabolism.  He is a member of the American Medical Association, the Endocrine Society, the American College of Physicians, and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.  Dr. McCammon also serves as the Medical Director of the Group's High Complexity medical laboratory.

Dr. McCammon and his wife, Libby, are native Knoxvillians who have happily returned to East Tennessee.  With their children, Olivia and Clay, they enjoy trips to the Smoky Mountains and family time at home.  Dr. McCammon also likes to play tennis and attend UT sports games.  Dr. McCammon, as well as all the physicians of our practice, sees patients at all local hospitals.

 

Peter J. Campbell, M.D., FACP

Dr. Campbell was born and raised in Great Britain.  He received his undergraduate training at Oxford University where he met his future wife Sandy, an American exchange student.  After a wedding in Minnesota, the Campbell’s returned to the United Kingdom.  Dr. Campbell obtained his medical degree from the University of London, after which he completed Internal Medicine training in London, Sheffield, and Aberdeen, Scotland.  In the early 1980's, the Campbell family returned to Minnesota for Dr. Campbell to obtain Fellowship training in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Campbell was a faculty member of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville prior to coming to Knoxville.  He was an Investigator in the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT) that established conclusively the benefits of intensive insulin therapy for diabetic patients.  His other research interests are obesity and fat metabolism, and the treatment of non-insulin dependent diabetes, on which he has published more than thirty original papers and book chapters.  Dr. Campbell is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a member of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom, the Endocrine Society, The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and the American Society for Clinical Nutrition. 

The Campbell’s have three children:  Ian, Andrew, and Caitlin.  Peter and Sandy indulged their interest in the theater and opera during their six years in London, but missed the outdoors.  They believe East Tennessee is a wonderful setting for them to raise their family.

 

John B. Williams, MD, Ph.D.

Dr. John B. Williams, was born in Toledo, Ohio, but spent his formative years in Oklahoma.  After graduation from the University of Central Oklahoma, he began his medical studies at the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical School where his interests in biomedical research led to graduation with both the M.D. degree and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry.  Continuing these career interests, he trained in Internal Medicine, and Endocrinology and Diabetes and Metabolism at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.  While at Johns Hopkins, he simultaneously completed a Fellowship in molecular genetics in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute where he was a recipient of a prestigious Fellowship for Physicians.  Prior to arriving in Knoxville, he was on the Faculty of the Departments of Medicine and Biochemistry at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and was a Staff Physician at Veterans Affairs Medical Center-Nashville.  He has published papers in biomedical journals describing his research in biochemistry.  He is a member of the Endocrine Society, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and the American Thyroid Association.

    While at Johns Hopkins, he met and married his wife, Lynda, and is the father of four sons, Ryan, Austin, Galen, and Landon.  Together, the family has interests in music, theater, and numerous outdoor activities.  They are pleased to find ample opportunity for all of these activities in the wonderful Knoxville area.

 

Gregory A. Moffitt, MD

Dr. Moffitt received his medical degree from The University of Louisville School of Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine training at the Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville , SC. He completed a one-year residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center and then completed a three-year Fellowship in endocrinology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston , SC. Dr. Moffitt is a member of the American Medical Association, The American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and Endocrine Fellows Foundation.

Dr. Moffitt was born in Beaufort , SC. , but spent his formative years in Murray , KY. Dr. Moffitt and his wife Jennifer are the proud parents of a new son. His personal interests are golf, running and reading.


Amit Vora, MD

Dr. Amit Vora joined ECET in March 2008. He did some of his early schooling in New York where his father taught medicine at NYU. Their family moved back to India and after a few years, he returned to the US to do his training in Internal Medicine at the Cook County Hospital in Chicago where he was bestowed the humanitarian award for two years in a row. This was followed by fellowship training in Endocrinology at the Penn State University. Dr. Vora has lectured locally and nationally on diabetes care and is actively involved in the American Diabetes Association as a member of its volunteer board. Dr. Vora is a member of several professional organizations including AACE and the Endocrine Society.

His wife, Dr. Bhavana Vora is a family practitioner, who trained at UT in Knoxville. They have been in the Knoxville area for about 8 years and have 2 daughters Anusha and Aashi. In his spare time Dr. Vora enjoys playing racquetball, hiking and camping in the Smokies and traveling.

Aaron Bussey, M.D. is a native of Texas but has come to love East Tennessee (almost) as much. He attended medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and did his residency at The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Memphis . While there he met his wife Abby- a true Memphis Belle. The groom's cake at their wedding featured Davy Crockett's famous quote “You may all go to hell and I'll go to Texas ”. After angering all the new in-laws Dr. Bussey fled back home for fellowship training at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio . Dr. Bussey spent three years working in the concrete jungle of Dallas before realizing that his wife is “the smart one” and agreeing to give East Tennessee a chance. He now plans to grow old here.

Dr. Bussey established the Blount County office of ECET in 2006 and practices exclusively at that location. He is outnumbered at home and in his free time does whatever his wife and daughters ask.

Kelli Tidwell, RN, MSN,FNP

Ms. Tidwell is a family nurse practitioner.  She attended graduate school at the University of Tennessee where she was trained as a family nurse practitioner and received her master’s degree.  Kelli is certified by the American Nursing Credentialing Center.  She received her bachelor’s degree from the Indiana University where she majored in Business.  She also studied at the University of Limburg in the Netherlands. Kelli and her husband enjoy whitewater activities such as kayaking and rafting.

Helene Halsey, MSN, RNCS

Ms. Halsey has seven years experience as a Nurse Practitioner, twelve years experience as a Certified Diabetes Educator, and 9 years as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in a hospital setting. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Wake Forest University. After completing her Masters in nursing degree at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, she worked as a Clinical Specialist in Diabetes at St. Mary's Hospital. She returned to UTK and completed a Masters Degree in the Nurse Practitioner program and she is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nursing Credentialing Center. She has served as Past President, Knox County Chapter, American Diabetes Association, Medical Program Lecturer for Pharmaceutical Companies, Guest Lecturer, UT Knoxville College of Nursing, Student Preceptor in Family Nurse Practitioner Program UT Knoxville College of Nursing, and she had an article published in Diabetes Educator.

Michele Hall, APRN, BC

Ms. Hall is a family nurse practitioner.  She attended graduate school at the University of Tennessee where she was trained as a family nurse practitioner and received her master’s degree. She is certified by the American Nursing Credentialing Center. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee where she majored in psychology. Michele is married and lives with her husband and two cats in Strawberry Plains.

Sarah Campbell, MS, RD, PA-C

Ms. Campbell received a Bachelor's degree in food Science and Human Nutrition-dietetics from the University of Illinois-Urbana. She then did a Nutrition Internship at St. Luke's Hospital-Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville , Florida . She worked for several years in clinical/hospital nutrition as a Registered Dietitian with a special interest in diabetes. She later received a Master's of Medical Science from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville , Tennessee and is credentialed as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). In her spare time she enjoys scuba diving and other outdoor activities with her husband, Kevin.

Carrie Dorsey-Higdon, MSN, APRN, FNP

Ms. Dorsey-Higdon is a native of Nashville , Tennessee . She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Tennessee , Knoxville , She studied nursing at Vanderbilt University in Nashville , Tennessee , and received a Master of Science in Nursing degree in 1996. She is board certified by the American Nurse's Credentialing Center as a family nurse practitioner. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing, Tennessee Nurses Association/American Nurses Association, and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She and husband Tommy live on a small farm in Corryton with many horses, dogs and cats.
