High Complexity      CLIA Certification   

ECET's lab has be certified as a High Complexity Lab under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 (CLIA-88) since the certifications began in 1992.  To maintain this certification the lab is inspected every other year and must perform satisfactorily on Proficiency Testing challenges. Most High Complexity Labs are in Hospitals. 

The accuracy of our lab's results is checked every 4 months by testing multiple samples for every test done in our laboratory. Our results are checked by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) for accuracy.  This process is called Proficiency Testing and is an important way we assure that our patients get the very best lab testing information.

The very best medical office clinical labs in the U.S. are accredited by a professional group such as the CAP or the Center for Office Laboratory Accreditation (COLA).  Such accreditation requires the lab to meet even higher standards than required under CLIA and also requires an on-site inspection every 2 years. 

 The ECET laboratory received COLA's highest award for excellence in 2001-2002.  We stress quality every day in our clinical lab so that the best possible information is produced.
