Aaron Bussey, MD

Aaron Bussey, M.D. is a native of Texas but has come to love East Tennessee (almost) as much. He attended medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and did his residency at The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Memphis . While there he met his wife Abby- a true Memphis Belle. The groom's cake at their wedding featured Davy Crockett's famous quote “You may all go to hell and I'll go to Texas ”. After angering all the new in-laws Dr. Bussey fled back home for fellowship training at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio . Dr. Bussey spent three years working in the concrete jungle of Dallas before realizing that his wife is “the smart one” and agreed to give East Tennessee a chance. He now plans to grow old here.

Dr. Bussey understands that diseases of the endocrine system are complex and often difficult to understand.  He firmly believes that patients do best when they understand both their disease and treatments . For this reason he spends as much time as possible listening to the concerns of his patients and then educating them about both their condition and recommended therapies.  His goal is to help patients make fully informed and well educated decisions regarding their own health and medical care. He has specific interests in the individualized treatment of diabetes, menopause, and disorders of the thyroid.

Dr. Bussey established the Blount County office of ECET in 2006 and practices exclusively at that location. He is outnumbered at home and in his free time does whatever his wife and daughters ask.
