Dr. Irizarry comes to us with over 10 years of experience as an endocrinologist, and 7 years practicing in Blount County. He is originally from New York City and received his undergraduate degree from Fordham University. Dr. Irizarry went to the University of Buffalo for graduate and medical school training. He then completed his internal medicine residency at Yale New Haven Hospital, followed by an endocrinology fellowship at the University of Florida.  He is certified in neck ultrasonography by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) and is a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM).  

He prides himself on being a strong patient advocate and enjoys educating his patients. His general philosophy for patient care focuses on that of teamwork. Dr. Irizarry strongly feels that gradual education of individuals during visits, leads to a better understanding of their diseases, and inevitably to healthier and happier patients.

Dr. Irizarry has been married for over 15 years to Juliana. They are proud parents of Logan, Olivia, and Mylo (a Miniature Schnauzer). He enjoys spending time with his family, cheering on his children during their sports activities, working out, swimming, and watching SEC college basketball. He is an avid UT Vols fan, except for when they play against the Gators.
