John Williams, MD
Ph.D., F.A.C.E

Dr. John B. Williams, was born in Toledo, Ohio, but spent his formative years in Oklahoma. After graduation from the University of Central Oklahoma, he began his medical studies at the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical School where his interests in biomedical research led to graduation with both the M.D. degree and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry.

 

Continuing these career interests, he trained in Internal Medicine, and Endocrinology and Diabetes and Metabolism at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. While at Johns Hopkins, he simultaneously completed a Fellowship in molecular genetics in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute where he was a recipient of a prestigious Fellowship for Physicians. Prior to arriving in Knoxville, he was on the Faculty of the Departments of Medicine and Biochemistry at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and was a Staff Physician at Veterans Affairs Medical Center-Nashville.

 

He has published papers in biomedical journals describing his research in biochemistry. He is a member of the Endocrine Society, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and the American Thyroid Association.
